Strategy

To begin, the tank can take Captain Black Spit where he stands and face him away from the group. The rest of the group can spread out behind the boss.

Black Spit places ground AoE effects that should be avoided. It is a pulsing red bubble with green effects rising up from it.

He also casts Bile Breath, a frontal cone breath spray that deals significant damage.

When the boss says “Scrape yourselves off the deck you mangy dogs and fight!” or “Drink up me hearties”, one of the adds will become active and needs to be picked up by the tank. When the add says “Yarr. My backside is burning” or “I die as I lived”, the add will pulse a red bubble then explode, damaging or killing any nearby players without mitigation.

The emote “Captain Black Spit flies into a grog induced rage!” signals that the boss is about to blink next to a random player. The tank will retain aggro, but the player should be sure to move behind or away from Black Spit to avoid his Bile Breath.

The boss will cast Bottoms Up (with the emote “Bottoms up, ascended”), which incapcitates the tank for a few seconds. Be careful if one of the adds becomes active during this time and is drawn to the healer.
